Stale Rice Krispies, Having A Treat Stash and My Current Obsession

Lesson 1: Stale cereal still tastes stale smothered in marshmallows

Yeah, this wasn’t my brightest moment. The night was young, my dinner had settled and my taste buds longed for a treat. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a car to drive anywhere and the last of our cookie dough had been eaten the day before, by yours truly. Despite the odds appearing bleak I was determined to have something sweet.

The only thing deemed “treat” worthy in our pantry was a bag of marshmallows, which I refuse to eat plain. I decided to risk using the long expired Rice Chex’s, which taste more like cardboard than cereal, to make rice krispie treats. I was hoping the sweetness of the marshmallows ( which also happened to be expired) would soften the staleness. For good measure, I added chia seeds just to be a little healthy…..

Regretfully, the rice krispies tasted a bit stale (shocker), but that didn’t stop me from consuming the entire pot. Overall, it was a rather dismal treat but it worked in a pinch, which leads me to my next lesson…

Lesson 2. Always have a non stale treat on hand

Honestly, I should know this by now, it’s common sense, but, alas, no one’s perfect. New goal of mine, if I know I won’t have a car that evening, make sure I have access to a non expired form of sugar.

Lesson 3: I cannot be trusted with a good book, a kindle or anything relating to a story

I won’t dive deep into this one because, frankly, I’m trying to leave it in the past. I’ve been deeply consumed by books the past week, causing my productivity towards general aspects of life to severely suffer.

Even as my eyes can no longer hold themselves open, requiring my fingers to force the eyelids apart, I don’t, no, I can’t quit reading.

I will say this… it’s mighty fun being so captured by a plotline that you barely think to eat or sleep.

Gratitude

  1. Movement: Moving and exercising my body has brought me immense joy this week! It’s been helpful in clearing my head and making me feel strong.

  2. My Consistent Clothing Pieces: Why I have a closet of clothes, when I wear the same 10 pieces every week, I don’t know. That being said, I’m grateful for it all, but especially the ones that keep me company consistently.

  3. Loved Ones: Being loved is probably the greatest gift a person can ever receive. I’m so grateful for all those around me who continue to bring light into my life

Thoughts:

Is it bad when I start to talk like the characters from my books? Does that mean I need to take a step back…
